Sul Viale: Dinner and Dancing

One popular question directed at The Directors by most people is: "Where can I see you perform live? Do you play anywhere publicly?"

For the most part, The Directors perform mainly at weddings , corporate events and fundraisers where only those who attend those events have a first row seat to montreal's most sought after showband.
The answer is :"yes, The Directors can sometimes be seen in and around the Montreal area for your public viewing pleasure."
In fact, just last weekend, The Directors performed with their smaller format at Sul Viale on Upper lachine road.

Tickets went fast when Sul Viale announced that The Directors would be performing at their New York style Italian restaurant. The night sold out in just a short couple of days.
Sul Viale is a restaurant that seats 90 guests and serves up some undeniably tantalizing Italian dishes, also with wood oven stove serving up some of the best pizza Montreal has to offer.

It was a predetermined menu for the evening that began with a choice of mixed salad or traditional Stratchatella soup, followed by a Riccota stuffed pasta with Rose sauce and fettucine pomodoro and then a choice of chicken stuffed with protobello mushrooms or a steak grilled to perfection both served with seasonal vegetables and a potato that could win an award for "better than the Monte Carlo"potato.
We know, how is that possible, you ask? Well, it is.
Dessert was the highlight, truly. An explanation of the sweet concoction is a banana, cinnamon, hot, cakey delight which literally melted in your mouth with some vanilla ice cream to taste.
An original creation thought up by the creative chefs at Sul Viale.

Have we mentioned the Bar? The only words to describe it is :"Vegas, baby, vegas!"

The Directors performed during the meal and then after the meal and onwards until 2:00 a.m.

Intimate and Interactive

This here was a party to remember ! !
At the Beth-El Synagogue, on Sunday, September 3rd, 2006, Stephanie and Glenn took the walk down the aisle and vowed their love to each other in front of family and friends. A very well matched couple very much in love.

Glenn and Stephanie entered with mad applause and had their first dance together as husband and wife to Michael Buble's "Save the last dance" performed on this night by The Directors own Tony Picciuto.
After that, it was Hora time. The dance floor was filled with guests as the hora turned into a wild frenzy. Noone was safe, it was every man and woman for themselves......

Stephanie and Glenn found the best place to be was above the crowd on two chairs.

Special and unique

One thing that made this evening so special and unique was that Stephanie's family became involved in the entertainment portion of the evening. Stephanie, her brother Jason as well as her father Marvin, had their respective moments of glory onstage that night, and were very well received. And rightly so.

Here's some shots of Jason, Stephanie's brother belting out a tune from the broadway smash musical "Jekyll and Hyde".


The crowd looked on with admiration.

Next, it was Stephanie who took the stage to sing a duet with her brother,Jason.
A beautiful rendition of "A whole new world" from Walt Disney's, Aladdin.


Midway through the evening, Stephanie graced the audience with her version of "At Last" by Etta James which she appropriately dedicated to Glenn, her now legal husband.
The crowd roared!!

Soon after, everyone wanted a taste of the stage......
One by one everyone got a chance to shine in the limelight......


One other spotlight of the night was on the Katz family, Glenn's parents who were honoured by their children and guests with the customary Mezinka.

MAZEL TOV TO THE KATZ'S

Another special feature to the night was the bouquet toss.
It was process of elimination as couples were asked to come on the dance floor and eliminated until the last couple remained....

With only three couples left...who would be the ones to end up with Stephanie's bouquet?

After a whopping 75 years years of marriage, this dashing couple was more than deserving of the title as " couple married the longest" .Now that's commitment!
Or as they say in Italian: That's Amore!!

The night continued and the stage got heavier with more and more musical entertainment backed up by The Directors .

The Directors

A dream come true

It was the weekend of August 25th, and The Directors packed up their gear once again and shot off down the 401 West to Toronto, Ontario.

August 26th, 2006, was a very sentimental day for the members in the band. The Directors were honored to perform for Andrea and Peter. Andrea, the bride, happened to be the niece of Big Al Arciero, The Director's own keyboard player. As a child, Andrea had always dreamed to have her uncle's band play at her wedding. On this night, all her dreams had come to a reality. Our warmest wishes go out to Andrea and Peter.


Andrea looked stunning in a beautiful white gown, while Peter complimented her in a dapper tuxedo. Bridesmaids and groomsmen, were dressed in a blue teal color.
The reception was held at The Pearson Convention Center
The room was decorated with an original flair. The Bride and Groom sat together on a podium while high rise tables were set beside them for the bridesmaids and groomsmen.


Once again, as most Italian families celebrate with a ton of food this couple was no different. Special mention to the Calamari and to the decorative features of the hors d'oeuvres buffet.


The party got started with light music played by "The Directors". And then onto speeches.

Joe, Big Al Arciero's brother, the father of the Bride, said some heart-felt words to the newlyweds and sang a special song for his daughter "Color my world" backed up by the band. Like a scene from a movie, Joe gallantly stepped off the stage and danced with his little girl.

After all the dances and speeches, guests were ready to be entertained. Guests made their way to the dance floor and next thing you knew, the bride and groom were being lifted into the air.

It really was a good time for a hora.....

The groomsmen made their home onstage.

We also can't forget to mention the very memorable rendition of the Etta James classic "At last" performed by Cory Vincelli, the bride's cousin.

It was a very memorable night for the families and friends who attended as well as your truly, The Directors. The Directors would like to thank the Joe, Louisa and Peter's family for having us.

The Directors

The Directors: On the Road

It was the weekend of August 18th, 2006 and The Directors were on the road.
It was 8:00 a.m. and the band headed west on highway 401 all the way to Toronto.

ROAD TRIP !!


Toronto bound, The Directors arrived in Markham, Ontario for a very special occasion.
Saturday, August 19th, 2006, marked the union of Patricia and Tony at
Le Parc.

It was a beautiful reception as guests entered into a stunningly decorated hall with silk chair covers, large flower bouquet centerpieces and candles en masse. And yes, Ladies and gentlemen, this picture below is a lavish buffet of seafood, grilled veggies, cold and hot meats, a selection of cheeses and other fine foods. ....... Would you believe this was only the hors d'oeuvres??!!

The Directors played cocktail music while guests chose from an assortment of Martinis to sip on and mingled throughout the hall.


During the night, we noticed a Mini "Fred and Ginger" dying to get onstage. It was obvious that they had star quality. Mid way through the night, they managed to by-pass security and strom the stage.

And now a look at the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances :
A very important part of any wedding party........

Another tradition at most weddings is the garter-toss....
Thing is, first the groom has to find it...














And then, once found, the tradition is that the garter is tossed to a non-married man and hopefully bring him some good fortune, so that he too can find his wife-to-be.

As is the same with the traditional bouquet toss.

We hope that everyone who attended had a good time. Judging by the dance floor, noone seemed to complain their feet were hurting. ( except for maybe the girl in the bottom right with the orange dress)..... which is a good sign at a wedding with all those high heels.

Speaking of high heels, here's Randi Katz sporting hers and makes it through the night.
"Big Al" says she's a trooper.


It was most definitely an eventful weekend for "The Directors" and we thank Patricia, Tony and their families for having us.
