THE DIRECTORS SHOWBAND: Public event: February 11th, 2012

For twelve years, the Montreal AHEPA Family (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) has held its St. Valentine’s “For the Love of Children” Ball, to benefit children’s causes in the Greater Montreal area. To date, we have successfully raised over $400,000.

This year’s beneficiary will be the Giant Steps Foundation (www.giantstepsmontreal.com) which supports the Giant Steps School and Resource Center for autistic children. This unique institution provides exceptional support to children and their parents.

Giant Steps School and Resource Center is the only institution in Quebec focused exclusively on autism spectrum disorders. Respected throughout the educational and medical community, its therapeutic and educational programs strive to improve the abilities and skills of children with autism and related disorders while integrating them into regular schools and the community at large. Ultimately, the Giant Steps team aims to enable the greatest number of autistic children to reach their full potential and achieve independence in our society.

The Saint Valentine’s Ball is the crowning event of our annual fundraising campaign for children’s causes. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, February 11th, 2012, at the Palace Reception Hall, 1717 Le Corbusier Boulevard (north of St. Martin), Laval, Quebec H7S 2K7.

In previous years, this event has supported the Montreal Shriners Hospital for Children; the Montreal Children’s Hospital; St. Justine’s Hospital; and the Children’s Wish Foundation.

THE DIRECTORS SHOWBAND: on GLOBALTV/FOCUS MONTREAL for BARNEY'S VERSION

The Directors Showband were interviewed by Richard Dagenais on Global TV/Focus Montreal for their role in "Barney's Version" the movie which is still in theaters and has been nominated for an OSCAR for  "Best Make up". The film's lead actor, Paul Giamatti, recently won a Golden Globe for his role in the film.
If you haven't already seen the film, you should. Definitely worth it. Ebert gave it 3.5 stars out of 4.
To view their portion of the video, cue the slider to 15:15 after the advertisement.

The Directors would like to thank Richard Dagenais and everyone at Global TV/ FOCUS MONTREAL for making them feel right at home.

THE DIRECTORS SHOWBAND: Fondation Farha: Maskarade 2009 - Taking off the masks

The Farha Foundation for Aids awareness had their 10th annual fundraiser entitled MASKARADE.
This year's efforts helped to raise over $250,000 to assist the Farha Foundation in helping the 20,000 men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS in Quebec.

MASKARADE recreated a night of glamour and mystery with black and white attire and everyone in masks, based on Truman Capote's famous 1966 masked ball at the Plaza in New York.

Over 75 world renowned designers, artists, interior designers and celebrities had been commissioned to design masks exclusively for the event, including Michael Kors, Philippe Dubuc, Kenneth Cole, Joe Fresh, Corno, Perez Hilton, Bulgari, Cole Haan, Jully Black, Anouk Meunier, Pink Tartan, Andy The-Anh, Elisabetta Fantone, Glen Baxter, Lutz-Patmos, to name a few.
These masks were sold in auction.

Patrons were treated to live performances by Juno Award winner and Etalk correspondant Jully Black and DJ's Patrick Guay, Stefane Lippe and Stephane Grondin along with Montreal's own Directors Showband.
(Below: Jully Black performing with The Directors Showband. )

The incomparable Ms. Black performed her Juno award winning song "Seven Day Fool" along with her chart topping "Until I stay", "At Last" by Etta James and another song from her latest album entitled
" Queen".
Jully's performance was mezmerizing.
She certainly is the new "Queen" of soul.
(below: Tony and Randi with Jully Black and her talented back up vocalists)

Many sponsors helped to make the event successful.
Coordinating the event was event award winners "Atmosphere Communications and Events" along with Simon Tooley and the Farha Family, heading the Farha foundation.

The evening began with Justin Trudeau who eloquently spoke of his feelings for the awareness of Aids followed by Sonia Benezra who was the perfect Mc for the evening.
We love you Sonia!!
(Below are: Tony, Sonia Benezra and Randi.)

The Directors Showband dazzled the crowd and kept them on their feet all night long.

A Special performance by "Sheena" followed ...

The Directors Showband would like to thank Evelyn Farha and all of the Farha Foundation committee members including Simon Tooley, Jason Katz of Atmosp(here) and Barry Garber and Angela at IMC Management. Randi would personally like to thank Michael Kors for their generosity and Ice.com (Delmar ) for the loan on the beautiful dimaonds she was wearing.
She truly did feel like a million dollars.....

We are thrilled and honored to have been a part of the foundation's success.
We look forward to future endeavors.

sincerely,

The Directors Showband
