Fairytales do come true

The Directors were fortunate enough to come across a certain couple who's story was a true tale of fate and destiny.
Mel and Robert met on a Montreal city bus. Their paths crossed and it was love at first sight. A truly unbelievable story. Just goes to show that fairy tales do come true.
A year later, the couple was wrapped in streamers in a bonded union on the dance floor at Buffet Marina.

It was a traditional Italian affair filled with vino en masse and plenty of food to feed an army for at least six months.
Traditional waltzes, tangos, cha chas and tarantellas provided by The Directors.

Here's "Big Al" from The Directors tearing it up on the accordion.
The Accordion sure adds a real traditional spice to the Italian repertoire.

Two special guests graced the stage that evening joined by The Directors with an emotional version of the Adriano Celantano song: " L'Emozione non ha voce".
None other than Christina, Robert's sister and her boyfriend Ivano.

She clearly sounded like Laura Pausini.
..................................................................................

Even though the evening called for Italian tradition, The Directors fed the crowd with their always updated set list which the crowd definitely ate up. (As if they weren't full enough)...

The audience was truly receptive.

.............................................................................

The bouquet was tossed....

The garter was retrieved...

Photoshoots were had....

..and unfortuanetly the evening drew to a close.....

The Directors would like to thank Mel and Robert .
You are truly a special couple and anyone who crosses your path will surely feel and be blessed by the light and positive energy which you both exude individually as well in as a couple.
We are thankful that our paths did cross with yours.
Auguri!

Sincerely,

The Directors.

Endless Love

It's a beautiful thing to know that true love still exists, that love does stand the test of time and that commitment still stands strong.

Rafaele and Josie stood before friends and family, renewing and celebrating their "Endless love" for another 25 years...
The ceremony and reception was held at Golf St-Raphael.

The Directors were the number one choice of entertainment that evening and kept everyone on their feet all night.

It was difficult to stay away from the dance floor for most. Even those who sported bandaged ankles couldn't keep from dancing.

The Directors would like to thank Joe from Golf St -Raphael and Nadia Saputo.
Rafaele and Josie, you are truly an example to us all.
May everyone in this life find a love as powerful, dedicated and loyal as yours.

Sincerely,

The Directors

Surprise, surprise !

The Directors were set to perform at Mary's "secret" party which took place at the Four Points Sheraton.
Mary was under the impression that she was attending a formal fundraising Gala....
Unbenounst to her, behind closed doors, friends and family anxiously awaited her arrival.

Surprise! Happy Birthday!

This was only the beginning...an evening of surprises followed and to say that Mary was elated, would have been an understatement.

The Directors took to the stage .

..................................................................................

During dinner, a special young guest singer graced the stage and wowed the audience three times over with her rendition of the wizard of oz classic "somewhere over the rainbow", "tomorrow" from Annie and a Celine Dion number which she sang in French.

Next on the surprise list were dancers from the San Tropez dance troupe.
Always a sure hit at any party.

A prelude to exactly how hot things would get that evening.

Tony, lead singer for The Directors for 35 odd years, happened to be very close friends with husband to shining birthday gal, Mary.
This made the evening even that much more special to The Directors.

As the evening progressed, everyone was in a festive mood and the dance floor proved as much.
The Directors knew just what to do to get this crowd roaring.

Just look at those smiling faces!!!

And yet another special featured performance by some talented men.

Hey look! It's Sergio Momesso, once from the Montreal Canadians!!
Not only a great left winger but the man can hold a tune boyz!
He also makes the best sausage sandwiches in the city!
Talk about triple threat!

P.S. GO HABS GO!!
.....................................................................

It was clear that this party was off the hook.

Believe it or not, even a hora was requested......
Heading off the ritual dance and other traditional elements of the hora was none other than female lead singer, Randi, of The Directors.

Not being too keen with being hoisted up into the air, and for good reason, Mary, the birthday gal stayed grounded while Randi took her place.
Someone had to.

The Directors give this party a ten out of ten !!
This family definitely knows how to throw one good party.

Once again, auguri to Mary, thank you to Peter, Jenny and all who organized this exciting evening of surprises.
The Directors were truly honored to have been part of your celebration and would not have missed it for the world !!

Most sincerely,

The Directors.

Stylin' at Le Vogue

Peter and Chrissy were happily wed on September 13th, 2008 at Le Vogue Reception hall.
If you've never been to Le Vogue, it's definitely a hall worth checking out. The food is impeccable, the service staff is extremely professional and the hall itself is probably one of the most stylish .

Back to Peter and Chrissy.....the stars of our show.....

What a cute couple..... and so much in love...you can really feel it.

The Directors rocked the house that night...

Tony crooned as the band bopped.....

Randi sang joyfully as Tony followed the dance floor so as to assess the band's next move....

(Being in a live band is like playing chess. Your opponent in this case is the dance floor. Any next move is crucial and must be strategized. ....Lists might change on the fly...it's an intuitive awareness of what might keep the crowd dancing. )

During the band's break, close friends took that opportunity to serenade the new bride and groom.

Next was the second opening dance......

Why a second dance you might ask?

How a tradition has evolved......

Once upon a time in the Italian community there was only one dance for the bride and groom. This was called the "Welcome dance". In those days, no one would dance during the meal so not to show disrespect to the couple. The Welcome dance took place after the meal. An outcry from newlyweds raged... They wanted their guests to dance the entire evening. And so, thus began a set of two dances. The first opening dance and then the welcome dance after the meal. The second dance incorporated confetti and streamers which bound the couple in a symbolic union as we see below.

Most halls don't allow confetti anymore...as you could imagine it can be quite messy...
Le Vogue however is one of the only remaining halls which still allows it and won't charge you for the mess.
....................................................
And yet another tradition ...the garter and bouquet toss....

Another evening of spectacular performance and good times comes to a close, as it always does.

The Directors would like to thank Peter and Chrissy and wish them all the best of future luck.
Thanks also to Frank from Le Vogue and his very competent, professional and accommodating service staff.

Sincerely,

The Directors.

Short but sweet

On September 11th, 2008, The Directors performed for a corporate event in Quebec City at Chateau Frontenac.
The band's showtime was short but sweet and still did not fail to engage guests.

The Directors would like to especially thank Sylvie Rioux .
Thanks Sylvie!

Sincerely,

The Directors
