Restaurant Sul Viale: The place to be

Once again The Directors performed at SUL VIALE restaurant on Upper lachine.
For those of you who've never been to Restaurant Sul Viale, it is absolutely, bar none, the hottest and trendiest Italian Restaurant in the west-end of Montreal.
The food is out of this world, and nicely priced...they even have half portions of pasta.

It was a rainy and windy one on October 20th, 2006 but that didn't stop a crowd of 100 who came out to the most talked about dinner and dancing show of the month.
This time was even better than the last!!

The restaurant was packed and there was no shortage of a good time had by all.
The cuisine was prepared by the good chefs at Sul Viale who once again, outdid themselves. Cheers!!

The party began at 7:30 p.m. and didn't stop until 3:00 a.m.
People just didn't want to leave.

Here's some shots of the band in action:

Randi Katz (top) with Brent Martin (drums)
and Tony Picciuto (bottom)

Above: Joe Primiani on Bass (left) and Frank Bufo on guitar (right)

Below: "Big Al" Arciero and Fred Manricks on keyboards

The band was so contagious, that even the waiters got into the action and ended up dancing on the tables...

(P.S. Don't try this at home.....)

It really was a wild time.

The great news is, The Directors are expected back at Sul Viale on November 24th, 2006 for Sul Viale's one year anniversary.
As far as everyone who came is concerned, Restaurant Sul Viale has much to celebrate.
Come and celebrate with them.
Tickets are $15.00, which includes a free drink at the bar of your choice and the menu is a la carte, allowing you taste whatever dish on the menu that excites you.
Our suggestion is the Gnocchi Gorgonzola or the seafood pasta. Absolutely to die for!!!
They also have a wood burning oven for homestyle Italian pizza.
Let's just say, you'll leave full and satisfied.

For tickets you can contact The Directors directly or Sul Viale
Book fast, tickets are going like hotcakes!! or in this case, hot peppers!

One life, One love....

On Saturday, October 14th, 2006, "The Directors" were set up at Le madison
and performed for David and Enza for the occasion of their marriage.

The reception got started as David and Enza greeted their guests at the door.
An unbelievable assortment of hors d'oeuvres were set out as guests mingled and munched throughout the beautifully decorated hall.

The mood was romantic and the food was glorious.
What a spread!
Below is just a small example of the assortment which guests had their pick and choose.
(And this was just hors d'oeuvres....)

After all the guests had arrived, it was time to bring in the newly married couple.
One by one, members of the head table were announced and entered to the sounds of "The Directors".

Once everyone was seated it was time for the opening dance and the first kiss.

The party began, everyone seemed to have brought their dancing shoes with them.

"The Directors" interacted with guests.....

Soon after, everyone was on the dance floor, getting down to the sounds of "The Directors".

Here's a shot of the groom, David, and his beautiful new wife, Enza, as the customary search for the garter takes place.

And as the evening came to a close, David and Enza had their last dance, appropriately serenaded by Tony and Randi of "The Directors" in the middle of the dance floor.

A beautiful evening, for a beautiful couple.
David, Enza, "The Directors" would like to wish you all the best of luck for the future.
We thank you for choosing "The Directors".
Until we meet again....

Becoming a man

It was a different kind of event on Monday October, 9th, 2006.
Noone tied the knot and there were no garters to be thrown or bouquets to be tossed...

On this, thanksgiving day, Jonothan Nudell became a man.

For those of you who are not so educated on the Jewish religion, it is customary in the religion, that at the age of 13, a young boy will have his "Bar Mitzvah". He reads from the great book, "The Torah", which is an honour in itself, and is then sworn in as no longer a young child, but will now be regarded as a man.
(Note: Girls can also have what is called a "Bat-Mitzvah", however, as a boy, it is truly a requirement to be honored with this rite of passage).

Moving right along, after the service which takes place in the synagogue, a reception is held to honor the new man.

Other traditions include the traditional dance entitled, the Hora:

Up top, is Jonothan, the man of the hour , with his father Issie, as family and friends surround them.

The Hora can get pretty crazy at times....

The honored are lifted onto chairs to symbolize them being lifted to the skies and closer to the source himself.

Another interesting tradition in the "Bar Mitzvah" is the candlelighting ceremony. 13 candles are lit by family and friends, the exact number which represents the age of the now, new man.

Here's Jonothan, with his parents, Sandy and Issie along with the MC for the day, his sister, Ariela, on the left.

After all the traditional elements that accompany the "Bar Mitzvah" ceremony, one thing remains the same....

The Party......

The Directors were there to keep guests entertained for the day.

Other entertainment included a real live magician who kept some of the younger attendants intrigued and amazed.

If that wasn't entertainment enough, guests roared as Issie and Sandy, the parent's of the Bar Mitzvah boy(now man), took the stage to do a number of their own. As known stars of the karaoke world, Issie and sandy belted out the well-known Sonny and Cher tune: "I got you babe", accompanied by The Directors.

It was a successful day for the Nudells. Their son became a man, the party was elegant and the food was tasty. Special mention to the hors d'oeuvres and the desserts. Yu-mmy!
OH YEAH!

We thanks the Nudells for having The Directors and wish a warm Mazel Tov to Jonothan and his entire family.
We thouroughly enjoyed entertaining you and your guests.

Sul Viale: Dinner and Dancing

One popular question directed at The Directors by most people is: "Where can I see you perform live? Do you play anywhere publicly?"
For the most part, The Directors perform mainly at weddings , corporate events and fundraisers where only those who attend those events have a first row seat to montreal's most sought after showband.
The answer is :"yes, The Directors can sometimes be seen in and around the Montreal area for your public viewing pleasure."
In fact, just last weekend, The Directors performed with their smaller format at Sul Viale on Upper lachine road.

Tickets went fast when Sul Viale announced that The Directors would be performing at their New York style Italian restaurant. The night sold out in just a short couple of days.
Sul Viale is a restaurant that seats 90 guests and serves up some undeniably tantalizing Italian dishes, also with wood oven stove serving up some of the best pizza Montreal has to offer.

It was a predetermined menu for the evening that began with a choice of mixed salad or traditional Stratchatella soup, followed by a Riccota stuffed pasta with Rose sauce and fettucine pomodoro and then a choice of chicken stuffed with protobello mushrooms or a steak grilled to perfection both served with seasonal vegetables and a potato that could win an award for "better than the Monte Carlo"potato.
We know, how is that possible, you ask? Well, it is.
Dessert was the highlight, truly. An explanation of the sweet concoction is a banana, cinnamon, hot, cakey delight which literally melted in your mouth with some vanilla ice cream to taste.
An original creation thought up by the creative chefs at Sul Viale.

Have we mentioned the Bar? The only words to describe it is :"Vegas, baby, vegas!"

The Directors performed during the meal and then after the meal and onwards until 2:00 a.m.

We will now take a moment to introduce the cast of
The Directors
:

The Directors will be back at Sul Viale for two nights on
Friday October, 20th, 2006 and Saturday October, 21st, 2006 .
It's well worth it folks, where else can you eat from the heart of Italy and see a live show all in one place? Did we mention dancing?
Reserve your tickets now, seats are limited and will go quickly.
To book your reservations contact Sul Viale at (514) 485-0888

Intimate and Interactive

This here was a party to remember ! !
At the Beth-El Synagogue, on Sunday, September 3rd, 2006, Stephanie and Glenn took the walk down the aisle and vowed their love to each other in front of family and friends. A very well matched couple very much in love.

Glenn and Stephanie entered with mad applause and had their first dance together as husband and wife to Michael Buble's "Save the last dance" performed on this night by The Directors own Tony Picciuto.
After that, it was Hora time. The dance floor was filled with guests as the hora turned into a wild frenzy. Noone was safe, it was every man and woman for themselves......

Stephanie and Glenn found the best place to be was above the crowd on two chairs.

A proud father and his son....

.......................................................................................................................................

Special and unique

One thing that made this evening so special and unique was that Stephanie's family became involved in the entertainment portion of the evening. Stephanie, her brother Jason as well as her father Marvin, had their respective moments of glory onstage that night, and were very well received. And rightly so.

Here's some shots of Jason, Stephanie's brother belting out a tune from the broadway smash musical "Jekyll and Hyde".

The crowd looked on with admiration.

Next, it was Stephanie who took the stage to sing a duet with her brother,Jason.
A beautiful rendition of "A whole new world" from Walt Disney's, Aladdin.

Midway through the evening, Stephanie graced the audience with her version of "At Last" by Etta James which she appropriately dedicated to Glenn, her now legal husband.
The crowd roared!!

Soon after, everyone wanted a taste of the stage......
One by one everyone got a chance to shine in the limelight......

One other spotlight of the night was on the Katz family, Glenn's parents who were honoured by their children and guests with the customary Mezinka.

MAZEL TOV TO THE KATZ'S

Another special feature to the night was the bouquet toss.
It was process of elimination as couples were asked to come on the dance floor and eliminated until the last couple remained....

With only three couples left...who would be the ones to end up with Stephanie's bouquet?

After a whopping 75 years years of marriage, this dashing couple was more than deserving of the title as " couple married the longest" .Now that's commitment!
Or as they say in Italian: That's Amore!!

...........................................................................................................................................

More on "The Directors"

Interaction, dancing and a plain old good time you'll see from Randi and Tony when seeing any show by The Directors.

They dance.....

They make it a point to get the crowd involved with original interactive experiences.

And the crowd is eager to get involved, men, women and children alike......

...................................................................................................................

Traditional Jewish wedding turned Jam night

The night continued and the stage got heavier with more and more musical entertainment backed up by The Directors .
Even unborn babies got their 15 minutes.....

..........................................................................................................................................

Here's a fabulous group shot of a fabulous group who really knew how to get down at a party.

..................................................................................................................................

And there you have it folks, another memorable moment had by all including "The Directors".

"The Directors" would like to thank Label and all the staff from Beth-El Synagogue.

The Directors" would also like to express their heart felt wishes to Stephanie and Glenn. "It was a privelege to entertain you, your family and your friends, and we sincerely wish you all the best of love and future success. This truly was a fun and unique experience for us. Your wedding brought new meaning to the words :Intimate and Interactive."
Special mentions go to: Mike Rien, Jason Lipstein and Marvin Lipstein for the live jam.
