THE DIRECTORS SHOWBAND AT LA FONDATION DES AMIS DE MASSIMO

The Directors Showband were honored to aid in helping to raise funds for  

La Fondation des Amis de Massimo. 

Many children are diagnosed with autism and it is events like these that raise awareness and bring us one step closer to finding a cure.

The event was held at the Embassy Plaza in Laval.  

Lighting, sound and audio visual was provided by SES_Special Events Services.

Here are some highlights from The Directors Performance.

 

The Directors would like to thank the board of La fondation des Amis de Massimo.

The Directors Showband:"Barney's Version" North American Premiere at TIFF

Sunday September 12th, was the North American premiere for "Barney's Version" . The film adaptation of Mordechai Richler's final novel.

Tony and Randi of The Directors Showband attended this exclusive event.

The film is really well filmed and the screenplay, so well written by Montrealer Michael Konyves,  embodies every emotion that one can feel during a two hour period. 

Paul Giamatti is definitely deserving of an Oscar for his performance as "Barney Panofsky". 

In fact, the entire cast is supremely chosen, they all enhance the novel's characters. And yes, The Directors Showband do appear in several scenes midway through the film. 

The V.I.P. After Party was hosted by Entertainment Tonight Canada

"Barney's Version" is set to open the Vancouver film festival and the Hampton film festival and will then make it's way onto the big screen courtesy of  Sony Pictures Classics (U.S.) and Serendipity Point Films (Canada) . No exact release date has been confirmed. We will keep you informed!

THE DIRECTORS SHOWBAND: Barney's Version _The Movie

" Barney's Version" The movie will be premiering at the Venice Film Festival on Friday, September 10th, 2010 and is in the running for the prestigious Golden Lion Award. 

67th Annual Venice Fim Festival 

"Barney's Version" will have its North American red carpet premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on September 12th, 2010. Randi and Tony of the Directors have been invited to join in on the highly anticipated screening and after mingling festivities.

In other news, the film which is directed by Richard J Lewis and produced by Robert Lantos, starring Dustin Hoffman, Paul Giamatti,  Minnie Driver, Scott Speedman, Rachel Lefevre and host of top name actors has been acquired by Sony Classics for U.S. Distribution.

Sony Classics acquires rights to Barney's Version

THE DIRECTORS SHOWBAND: Lloyd and Jenn

Lloyd and Jenn were wed at the beautiful Chateau Vaudreuil.
Blessed with a beautiful May evening, the couple, with the help of wedding planner Bunny Adler, planned out their evening in style.

Stunning candlelit tables were the focal point and a warm atmosphere filled the room.

Lloyd and Jenn were in wedded bliss as they stood for the first time as husband and wife.

The Directors Showband performed the hora and entertained the crowd till the wee hours of the morning. 

Lloyd and Jenn basked in the glory of their celebration.

The Directors would like to thank Lloyd, Jenn and Bunny for a most memorable evening.

THE DIRECTORS SHOWBAND: Maimonides 100th Anniversary

The Directors Showband have been busy entertaining Montreal.

In May, The Directors were chosen to perform at the Maimonides 100th Anniversary.

The Jewish Community came out to honor the last 100 presidents.

Produced by Jason Katz (Atmosphere Communications and Events) and the Maimonides Committee, it was an unforgettable evening for all.

Mc for the night was CJAD's Andrew Carter .

Special Feature for that night only was Montreal teen singing Sensation "Nikki Yanofsky" .

For those of you who don't know, here's a little trivia, Nikki Yanofsky got her start while singing with her father's band at the Maimonides Battle of The Bands in 2005 which happens ever year at Metropolis. The Monies raised goes towards the Suite Dreams campaign - a capital renovation project to refurbish all of the resident living spaces. 

That night, Nikki was presented with her first gold plated album. ( Presumably the first of many ...)

Ofcourse no celebration is complete without some live entertainment that keeps the crowd moving and grooving from the very beginning of the night until the last person leaves.  Montreal's most sought after Showband graced the stage with a sweet dinner set and high intensity dance set.

Needless to say that there was no shortage of FINE entertainment. 

It seemed everyone was enjoying themselves....

The Directors Showband 2010 : A new decade, a new outlook

The Directors Showband have been in hiding over the past several months preparing for a very busy upcoming 2010.

New music, a new vibe and a new outlook.

The Directors Showband would like to take this opportunity to welcome Joe Marsillo, the newest member to the band and a perfect addition to the already existing 10 piece unit.  His talents prove to bring the band to new and exciting musical heights.

THE DIRECTORS SHOWBAND: BARNEY'S VERSION - wrap party

Last month, The Directors Showband performed for cast and crew of "Barney's Version (2010)".

The wrap party took place at the Theatre Plaza on St.Hubert. For those of you who don't know, Theatre Plaza hosts the francophone television variety show "Belle et Bum" every Saturday.

Below is shot of the band at sound check.

For those who haven't heard the buzz on the street , The Directors Showband were cast in "Barney's Version (2010)", the upcoming feature production / adapated screenplay (written by Montrealer Michael Konvyes) of the novel written by Mordechai Richler.

The wrap party is a time when cast and crew would celebrate their hard work by kicking back and finally enjoying the fruits of their labor .
Work hard, party harder !

Halfway through the late evening, Director, Richard J Lewis, stepped into the spotlight to give his heartfelt thanks to cast and crew for a job well done.

As if the party wasn't already exciting enough, The Directors Showband along with cast and crew took it to the next level.

One big stage party !

On that note, The Directors Showband would like to thank everyone associated to "Barney's Version (2010)". This experience for us has been extremely humbling and a true honor to have been part of something so amazing. From the recording, to the shoot to the wrap party ,we're still pinching ourselves. It's been more than a pleasure working with each and every person from production to crew to cast. There really is... no business, like show business.
We look forward to the release.
