THE DIRECTORS SHOWBAND: Winter weddingland

Most Jewish weddings take place on Sunday evenings. The reason for this being, that most Saturdays throughout the year, The Sabbath ends later and the sun only goes down at a later hour.
One great reason to be married in the late winter months...no one has to work the next day and the party can go much longer.

Jonothan and Amy signed the "Ketubah" (the Jewish contract of marriage) on Saturday January , 10th, at the Shaare Zion Synagogue.
Officially then declared husband and wife !

Amy, who was not from a Jewish background, had close friends and relatives travel all the way from England to join her in the hora and celebrations.

The Taylor family had no problems following along while the Morton family and pulled out all the stops, showing their new family exactly how it was done.

It is customary to raise the honoree and his or her family members on a chair during the hora.
Scary it might be, but truly an honor.

Mr.Taylor surely got a good feel for what it was like all the way at the top.
For a first timer, we think he handled it brilliantly!

The Directors Showband have been given accolades by some of the most well known Rabbis in Montreal regarding their version of the Jewish Horas.

Jonothan's brother was next to deliver the blessing on the wine and bread which began the meal ...

During the meal, a few were chosen to provide heartwarming speeches to the newlyweds.

..............................................
Amy danced with her father to Elton John's classic "Your song".

Jonothan danced with his mother to the chosen song " The man you've become" by Molly Pasutti.

It was then time for what every Jewish parent looks forward to once the last child has been married off.
The customary "Mezinka".
This is the time of the evening when the parents who have now married off their last child are honored by all .
This custom signifies the circle of life, which has come to a symbolic end and will now continue on to the next generation.
Truly a blessing in Jewish tradition.

.....................................................
The Directors Showband have never been ones to shy away from connecting with the audience.
In fact, anyone is welcome to join them onstage.

Manny, from the synagogue Shaar Zion joins in with The Directors' already high calibre horn section giving an extra punch to the overall sound of the band.

No one should ever feel intimidated to come up and show their stuff.

The Directors will only finish their performance once the last guest leaves.
They are also known for taking very few breaks which keeps the party roaring and in this case was 2 a.m.
Not a problem for The Directors.
It's obvious that they love what they do and this can be proven through the faces of their audience members.

The Directors Showband would like to thank The Morton and Taylor families for showing them a great time. Thank you to Manny and the entire Shaare Zion Synagogue. It is always a pleasure to perform in your establishment.

מזל טוב

Sincerely,

The Directors Showband
